Hi,
I am a silver surfer who has recently bought an iPhone and iPad Air. As a Windows user since the days of Windows 95 this has been quite a leap for me. I am more than happy with most of the capabilities of the Apple devices. One thing I can't get my head around, though is the fact that my the two iPads and iPhones in the house appear to log in from an IP address in Turkey - according to the details in my gmail account. (I live in the UK) I have spoken to Apple about this and they say so long as the times of log in are the same as when I know I have logged in there is no need to be concerned. I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced similar odd IP addresses on their devices?

Many thanks to anyone who replies,
Katlin

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

I have literally hundreds of IPs associated with my account here and I've noticed quite a few are matched with members living in other countries. I've seen this many times... Some countries have static IPs for users which never change, here in Australia ours are recycled especially if using cellular. So I don't think this is anything to worry about. Someone else may know more on this and hopefully they will chime in also.

Thank you

Thank you so much for your reply. It is comforting to know we are not the only ones who have experienced this 'problem'. It was quite a worry before we spoke to a guy at Apple and we then realised that all the times of log ins matched when we had ourselves logged in. I will never understand technology!!!

Thank you again for taking the trouble to reply.

You're welcome! I've looked into this some more, this does happen with gmail and as long as the logins match when you have logged in, it is fine.

What you need to avoid is when logging into your gmail account through a browser (Safari), do not then visit other sites on the net without logging out of your gmail account first.

I hope this helps you!

If you do a google search does it provide results for UK or Turkey? A friend had IP from Virginia (living in SoCal) and his searches were Virginia specific. If he searched for Pizza hut near me they were Virginian PHs, same for stores or items.
