Can anyone confirm that beta 3 works without a registered udid? Is it the same installing procedure on win7 64bit itunes 10.0? I'm currently running 3.2.2... And yes I'm aware of the bugs/problems/downgrade issues that may come with the usage of a beta version.
Thank you all and excuse my poor English, my mother language is French (from Canada) :)

Yes, it works. I had it on mine yesterday. Downgraded to 3.2.1 and jailbroke today again with jailbreakme.com. I've got Win7 (not 64bit). Just hold the 'shift' key while you click on 'update' in iTunes. Then navigate to the 4.2 b3 file you've downloaded and saved on your computer. Make sure you've got your 3.2.2 shsh saved with Cydia and your 3.2.2 firmware downloaded in order to downgrade again if you decide to.
Always know how to get yourself OUT of a situation before you get into one.

The Beta 2 is really , working well is why i return in it , the folder the multitask and the game center + the function we need for our development is really enough for me … i think i will wait the final one as we are not so far .. no need to update one more time
I have trouble following your posts but good luck with it.

Everything I see tells me beta 3 is much improved, as I would expect it to be. I haven't run into an app that won't run, whereas it happened all the time on beta 2.
Michael

Solly solly for my poor english …. i don’t issue with the beta 2 , i think that depend on witch app’s you use .. , concerning the B3 Apple have cut down some function we need for our testing so i prefer to downgrade in B2 voila voila …

Ok, I'm foolish or something.

My logs are showing me that I'm not eligible. I am shift-clicking UPDATE, not RESTORE, as that was clearly and repeatedly pointed out. I originally had my gs.apple.com redirected through Saurik's cache, but have tried without that, no change. Has Apple changed something??

Oh, I have retried a number of times, and have now updated to the new iTunes beta as well. No joy.

You're not running Tiny Umbrella for the update, are you? (Just trying to think of different things). And you click "shift" plus the "update" button in iTunes and then the box opens up and you navigate to the 4.2 beta that you downloaded, right? I downgraded to a clean un-jailbroken copy of 3.2.1 (using Tiny Umbrella) before I updated to the 4.2 beta 3 and mine worked fine. Not sure if the added step of downgrading to a clean 3.2.1 had anything to do with it or not. Maybe others can chime in with ideas. You're certainly not 'foolish' if you've gotten this far lol

I actually don't use TinyUmbrella, I use Saurik's hosts redirect instead. Same result, Saurik stores it, not me. Disabled that pretty early on.

I'll go restore down to 3.2.1 and then try to shift-upgrade back to 4.2. If it works, I'll post.

Upgraded to 3.2.1, rebooted iPad, tried to upgrade to 4.2b3, error 3194 again. I'm not authorized.

Mine's a MB 64GB 3G. Anyone with this model running 4.2b3?

Ok, changed nothing, now it's working. I'm currently on Saurik's server via hosts editing, so perhaps one of my later attempts earlier finally got an SHSH saved for 4.2b3.

Yay! 4.2 today, SHSHs saved in case of trouble, 4.2b JB expected tomorrow! Life is good!

Awesome! Yea, I've been reading about it since your earlier post (but your link was the better one, so thanks lol).
That's great news. Because I love the way Apple does folders and backgrounding so smooth yet I ended up going back to 3.2.1 just so I could have iFile and Activator. Now I can have both!

I'm sorry for implying your English was poor. I think you do OK.

I meant I didn't follow going back to beta 2... but I think I understand why you needed to.

Michael we have to stay in 4.2 because in the 4.3 they have cut the airplay function in the video … and as we are working on that we absolutely need it so we have to downgrade in B2

Anyone get a message that 4.2 beta 2 expired and that you have to upgrade the operating system? Did beta 3 expire too?

NOTICE TO THE FORUM

This bears repeating so here goes --

The only authorized method of acquiring the beta version of iOS 4.2 is through the app developer program with Apple.

We do not allow the discussion of "cracked" apps or software, including operating systems, that is acquired by any means other than that in which the author, owner, developer or publisher intended.

If you are not a developer or did not acquire your copy of iOS 4.2 through a developer, that is the risk you took. There are instructions elsewhere on this forum that tells you how to revert to iOS 3.2.2.
