Ok, I just checked in Diagnostics and for each crash I had today there is a low memory report.
I've done all the same steps as you except the exchange. Same results! The consensus of dozens on the apple forums is that it's a software issue with iOS 7. Crashes are happening on other iPad models as well as iPhones. Several people ore working with Sr Apple advisors to correct the problem. No results yet so don't waste any more of your time trying. Just be sure they are aware of the issue.

Yes I think you're right, one train of thought was that it will crash if you have a lot of apps running in the background so I opened loads of apps and guess what, No crash...I have changed Diagnostics to report to Apple now, every little helps......Edit..I still love my iPad Air
I am using an iPad 2 running the latest iOS version. I use safari quite a bit each day, at least 5-8+ hours and never have had a "crash" or a message in of low memory. The only time I couldn't access safari and surf was when our modem and router turned off without notice.
I never had issues with my iPad 2 either even after updating to ios7, I had crashing almost from the start on my Air, each crash coincides with a low memory report, it's beyond me though as I hardly have anything running, I have read numerous reports on many forums from members all saying similar things, It can anything at all, I can be on a site just scrolling down a page and wham...I'm back to the home screen, it's very frustrating to say the least.
The reason why I posted was from the earlier post saying that others with older devices are also reporting crashes. I have to say that I haven't had crashes like what you mention, Ivy. That seems really frustrating. Do you have this issue outside of your house on different networks? When you brought to apple, were they able to replicate the issue? What about other devices running iOS or another OS? Does it do the same thing?
I haven't tried it on other networks but mine is very stable and I get good speeds, also I haven't been to an Apple store, just had phone support, I run my Pro from the same network and that never crashes, Some people get kicked back to the home screen like me and others get the Apple logo Some are blaming the crashes on the Air having just 1 gig of Ram.
I still have my iPad 2 and agree that it does not generate the low memory crashes as frequently as my Air. However, as I began to notice this problem, I decided to visit the same web sites on my iPad 2 (also running 7.0.4) that were causing the Air to crash. Sure enough, the iPad 2 also did the low memory crash. However, the Air also just does it while scrolling Facebook in Safari sometimes....unlike the 2. Strange!

Well hopefully it will be addressed shortly. I can't say anything about the 1gb of RAM, since my iPad 2 runs far less then that!
Yes I have had the scrolling thing, not FB, can be anything at all, there's no rhyme or reason to my crashes, it can be working flawlessly for quite a while and then I'm kicked back to the home screen....So your iPad 2 can have the same issues, that indicates a software issue doesn't it.
