What's new

What is it?

I zoomed in as close as I could to kick things off.
Here are a couple of more opened out views. :)

Come on folks, do have a guess. It isn't so hard

A different version of my object is used in a Scottish sporting event - a favourite at the Highland Games. The Scottish version does not look like my object, though. I just threw that clue on to hook in with the Olympic Games mood ;)

A handle of a racquet for ? lacrosse? badminton? Not sure what they play in Scotland.

A curling "broom" handle? As in, the thing they smooth the ice with in the path of the granite stone, to try and extend or change the travel.

It is a handle, but for a tool which is heavy. The Scottish sport is very Scottish. The Scottish version is thrown.

Here is another picture.

The end of the handle of a Scottish hammer throw?

Yes, it is a hammer, but not Scottish. It's not used in sports.

However, I will hand the challenge over to you, as you have identified it as a hammer.

Well, I didn't pay proper attention to your clues & pics so wasn't actually close at all...

Unfortunately, as I said, I can't monitor a challenge at this time so throw it open to anyone who would like to take it up.

I'm going to be mobile for a few hours so let's have a What Is It - Friday Free For All.

Come up with an excellent challenge and the stage is yours. :)

OK, since it's both Friday and the first day of the olympics, here is a sporty one.

What is the sport being played here?
How many players/horses in each team?

It's a newish one, not yet well known but fast becoming popular. And very fast & athletic too. Clues lie in the photo--ready to be picked up...
