What is it?

Think they get a bit tetchy by the end of a full day (Whitsun bank holiday) dancing round ...t-h-I-s... village) despite the calls at the pubs on the way round. (profile check needed)

The first person to name the thing the fool is carrying wins.

That fool is carrying the weight of a disappointed and embarrassed nation on his shoulders.

Brampton,Oxfordshire. The fool is carrying a pigs bladder. You do realize that your original challenge post didn't ask what the fool was carrying, didn't you?

Yes, that was an extra. Morris dancing is found all over the UK so the actual location was needed (no r in Bampton). You were first with the correct location and also the pig's bladder so you have the next challenge.
Over to you.

What type of stone is this? Where is it quarried?

It's not granite nor is it from the Cotswalds or Vermont.
It's quarried exclusively by one quarry, located in North America.

It's also renowned for the fossils often seen when the stone is cut.

It must be a type of limestone?

Is it Flagstone?
The biggest commercially viable deposit is in North Eastern Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains and in southern New York state.

No,that's not it. An excellent place to view some of this stone, used in a famous building, lies not too far from you, located on a hill overlooking the Ottawa River. It's quarried farther west, though.
