In the interests of opening this game up to other members, I'm waiving my right to post the next challenge. Any member who has not previously participated may post a challenge. One challenge at a time, please. The instructions for playing can be found in the first post in the thread.

Where is this body of water, what is it called (both names please) and why is it pink?

What other unusual property does it possess as illustrated in the second photo.

It's Lake Retba, in Senegal, west Africa. It's high salt content means that people float much higher in the water than normal. The COLOR is caused by the very high salt content, up to 40% in places.

If this answer is correct, please open the next challenge to any who wish to participate.

Oh, you're quick! And mostly right......the colour isn't caused by salt content though and I need the traditional name also!

It's a photo of the House of Cosmonautics at the Yuri A. Gagarin Russian State Science Research Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia. The building currently houses a museum as well as live and motion picture theatres. Star City(Zvezdnyy Gorodok) is where cosmonauts live and train for upcoming space missions. Here's a close up of the Yuri Gagarin statue from the front of the building. image-3729618296.webp.
