Apologies for being inactive, needed some sleep . I was going to say so but didn't want to assume I'd won!
The only 3 equestrian sports in the Olympics I can think of would be dressage, jumping and eventing.
It looks a bit like polo, but that isn't modern so...
Also looks like a ball in someone's hand but I can't think what that would be. Any other hints?

I'm guessing it's handball on horses? I'm sure it had a much more graceful name than that though?

It's a newish one, not yet well known but fast becoming popular. And very fast & athletic too. Clues lie in the photo--ready to be picked up...

It's called Horseball.each team has 4 players/horses,plus replacements if necessary. It originated in Argentina in the early 1700's.

Yes, spot on. We watched a demo by this team who visited stables locally. Unbelievably fast & active. They need to be able to pick up the ball from the ground at the gallop.

It's not a Hibiscus,but is a related plant. It's a biennial,flowering in the second year.

The flowers are similar but the flower in my challenge does not grow on a bush but on a biennial plant whose above ground portion dies off in the fall to regrow and flower in the second year. The plant is a member of the mallow family.
