What's new

What is it?

A coin pushed into an opening in a stone moulding of some sort.
Perhaps!

It's a coin, but where would it be made and how is it used? This should be supremely easy, now that you've answered the first question.

A token rather than standard coin?
Made as an alternative easier way of paying for something...
Placed in the opening for which it is intended...
Which doesn't look at all probable...
No idea!

The last two questions asked where are coins made and how are they used. This coin is a legal tender coin, made in Canada.

The background is irrelevant to the challenge, only the coin is important.

A chocolate coin? Made in a choc factory, to be eaten...
EDIT: missed the legal tender detail, so ignore this. Pity!

I'm feeling a bit dense today. It looks like a .25 cent piece, or quarter, based on the milled edge.

Since it's a Canadian coin, legal tender, its point of manufacture is the Royal Canadian Mint, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

As for how it's used or what it's used for, it's currency to buy goods or services. Or it can be part of a collection.
