What's new

What is it?

Almost meteorologist, but not soldering iron and not toothpick, way too expensive for that. I am doing something with the tip...

It revolves...so an M's drill to make a hole in something.... Not likely to be a cloud or a cold front. No other ideas!

2012-06-20 09.55.02 -000.webp This is the head, around which the probe and stylus (red ruby ball) turns, we use it in production when building cars...

Stylus is about 45mm long, with a 3mm ruby ball - Cost about $200
Probe which holds the stylus - Cost about $2700
Yellow head - Cost about $30000
Enter holes with stylus but not to drill it...

To measure temperature?

Didn't know that building cars was included in the work of an meteorologist. Learn a new little fact every day.

Is it a Punch Tool? Is it used for laying out scribe lines by punching) on the object for the next following manufacturing process?

I note the term metrology, the science of measurement, is associated with the process.

Sorry, Barnipad, mis-understood the metrologist word in your profile (actually I presumed it was an American spelling of the weatherman word).
Makes quite a difference. :-)

Just arrived home, sorry for the delay. It is not a scanning probe head but it is a probe head. It is used to measure parts and asemblies of cars (in our case). The DEA machine is the best machine (in my opinion) because it is very fast and has features that other machines would like to have (hole searching to name but one. I love my job, creating programs for these machines in our plant. I will show a photo of my machine early next week when I can guess something again. Because the scan head was so close I give it to scifan, well done.

Here's the next challenge.
What item is this a part of? Make and model required.
