OK, it's not the latch. Remember they are paired. Yes, they are part of kitchen cabinets.

Hinges they are.
Used to keep the cabinet doors in place but still being able to open/ close them.

The example I used has a soft close door buffer. A nice addition, until it falls off the hinge
