I want an ipad soooo much, and lately I've seen one in front of me being used and want one even more. I'd only use it the same as I do my iPod touch but I've run out of space on that and there's certain games thst are ipad only such as diner dash grillin green.
Plus it'll be cool to scroll through the net and YouTube on somethinh other than my slow notebook or the pc.
I use my iPod all the time.

I know it's not perfect cos it'll be hard to type on there and it's too awkward and big to play games on in bed like I love to do with my iPod...it's how I relax. But I have a few questions: (bear in mind I'm
in uk)

I think it'll take me ages to save up for one and I might never get one but are they a set price everywhere?
Do you think they'll likely go down in price when the rumoured ipad2 comes out?

Is it true you can only charge the battery so many times and then apple gotta replace the whole ipad for £100??

What's the app store like? I mean, I know it's all identical to the iPod/iPhone but does it just show ipad games? The store on the iPod shows ipad games too but I can't find diner dash grillin green which is one of the main games k want it for. Will every game I purchase on the app store be full screen on the ipad?

I am unsure wether i need the 32/64 bit one. I won't need 3g.
I filled my 8gb iPod up pretty quickly and got no room left for updates/free games I want now. I dong want the 16bit ipad but how many gsmes can I roughly fit on the 32/64 bit ones if thsts all I'm using it for? I know thryre all different size files but assuming they were all biggish sizes?

Syncing my iPod is a nightmare and I can't do it without it wiping off all my games (even tho I click to makr sure thst doesn't happen). Everytume I update iTunes it does it and I have to pay for games I downloaded when they were free. Does this happen with the ipad? How do you update iTunes if there's no USB slot to plug it into a pc/notebook?

When I want to delete games off my iPod I of course know how to get rid of them but what used to happen was I was left with empty spaces them which would either be filled with some other game aftwr I'd played something for a while or after I turned the iPod off n on again. It's hard to explain, but you know when you got the iPod so full that you hsve to search for what game you want cos you can't find it on the home screen? And then when you delete some games other games (previously unseen on the homescreen) take up the blank space? That doesn't happen on my iPod anymore so I can't delete anything else cos everything on my home screen I wanna keep. Anyone able to help with rhis pls and does the ipad do the same thing or have the same problem?

Perhaps the most important question if all: ordering the ipad. There's nowhere in Newport south Wales where you can play with/buy ipads instore....only Cardiff. I am wary about buying online with such a large amount of money but argos sell them.
Has anyone had any good experience ordering from them for 2day free home delivery? It says they're all out of stock for pickup, but can be ordered in for 2day delivery. No reviews say it took longer but this happened wirh somwrhing else I ordered from them and they didn't havd it in stock
anywhere to be able to order it n get it to me for weeks on end.
Anyone else bought this way from them, preferably in my area?

Lastly, is it worth holding out for tje ipad 2? Obviously if I have no
ipad by then I'll get the second one anyway..it's supposed to be cheaper which I can't see, have a front n back camera with a smaller thinner frame and a 7inch screen instead of a 9.5 inch? And it's supposed to be released in April in the uk?
As nice as it would be if those are the only differences I'm not fussed, plus when thinner and smaller things come out thry tend to have alot of bugs. Tje only thing I'd be worried about is I'll get the ipad and then the ipad 2 comes out and it has a retina screen like the iPhone 4 which is sposed to be absolutley fantastic to look at and play games on but I havnt experienced that.

1)Yes.
2)Dunno.
3)More than just games, dude...
4)Any size will work if you manage it.
5)Wha? iTunes works over the internet. You use the cable to sync.
6)Different.
7)Mine was a gift ordered straight from Apple. Worked fine.
8)Thats your decision.

Good luck! :D

Thanks. Do you think playing games on it is just as good as the iPod/iPhone? I mean it seems fast and responsive from what I've seen.
I've seen wedding dash being played, I've heard the sound and seen photos on it. Seems crystal clear. But then, the new ipad might look better graphics wise.
Yea, I know it's more than games lol..but I'll just be using it for net, games and YouTube.
I wanna play the hidden object and time management games on there on a bigger screen.

If I've bought a game for my iPod do I hafta buy it again for the ipad cos it's a different format or do I get it for free?

The game Infinity Blade is 300MB in size. You could put roughly 100 games of that size on a 32GB iPad.

Many would possibly disagree, but my advice to anyone thinking of buying an iPad is to buy it in person from an Apple store and have a blueshirt set it up for you before you leave the store.

Good luck, and don't be hasty.

Good Advice.
Seen it here in the forum, how people are getting stuck on the 1st move trying to connect the iPAD to a PC running iTune.

Agree! I had to walk 2 of my non electronic savvy friends through it on Christmas day along with setting up a friends MacBook Air the day after. Only took a few minutes but they were very happy afterwards.

It can't be that hard can it?
As far as setting iTunes and bank details go can I have the same iTunes account and bank card as my iPod touch uses?

I can't go to an apple store. There's none in my area and due to not being able to drive and health problems I can't travel.

If you already have an iTunes account then it will be really easy. There are only 3 steps: 1. Unpack it
2. Plug it into your computer and follow the onscreen instructions
3. Charge it

It's really very easy so worry.

Ah ok ty. Can I use the same bank card for the ipad as I do for the iPod?
Say I bought diner dash on the iPod do I hafta buy it again for the ipad?
Everyones telling me it's a waste of money if I want it mainly for games and to buy a laptop or wait till the ipad is cheaper when ipad2 comes out. I alreasy have a pc and notebook, but it's not the same.

I use mine mainly for games and surfing, its not a waste of money if its what you want.
If you load a game that you already purchased under the same itunes account you won't have to repurchase. However, some games for ipad cost while the ipod version is free... so its up to you if you run the lower res ipod version or upgrade to the hd version. Some games/apps are universal so you can run on either or both machines. As for the app store, it should be exactly what you see via itunes on your pc or appstore on your ipod. So, if you can't find the game you're wanting, it might not be available. You can look for ipod/ipad/both type of games in the store.

As for your screen organization. Upgrade to 4.2.1 if your ipad doesn't ship with it, also upgrade your ipod now...that way you have folders to organize apps and gives you more apps on one screen so you can access them rather than have them invisible.

Also, for losing your apps.. Be sure you use the same computer each time you sync, if you hook up to different computers it will wipe your info when you sync. Also, before upgrading use the "transfer purcahes" option then backup your device. Then upgrade.
Run transfer purchases a few times to be sure everything gets transferred to your pc before upgrade, that should help you keep from losing apps/status.

Also, if you buy online, you are covered by distance selling regulations which mean you can send it back if you don't like it. Is it 7 or 14 days?

I do not agree it is not a waste of money in fact it will pay for it self in some cases depending what you do with it. I use to purchase the courier mail newspaper (Qld Australia ) every day the cost per year was. $494. The digital version which is excellent and same content is $9.5 per month a savings of $380 per year. And this is only one digital subscription of several that I own. Cost of ownership is low compared to laptops or pc's. Yes if you buy an app for the iPhone one can use it on up to 5 devices for no extra cost. Also music can be shared with same devices plus Apple tv. One should keep in mind that the iPad apps that are made for iPad in some cases will not work on the iPhone. I have some apps duplicated and others are for iPhone only and not for iPad as I do not like the screen size of the iPod stuff even 2x expansion. I use my iPad every day for everything and use the laptop only to backup and sync I maybe have used the MacBook twice in past couple of months to run an accounting program and that's it. Unfortunately at Xmas one of the girls in my home spilt tea on the MacBook so it is dead so will have to replace it after the holidays but thats life. Insurance will pay but this means I am 100% on the iPad until it is replaced.
Buying direct from Apple on line is the safest if you do not have easy access to Apple stores or resellers. I do not recommend kmark and places like they as they are not geared to offer the help that you may need if something goes wrong. Finally the margins with Apple are small like 5% - 10% If you are a new user i would buy from Apple as you have peace of mind knowing you have that support if needed. Waiting for prices to drop may be one way but usually Apple runs down their inventory as it is all built to order unlike the pc market which buy large inventories. One will find the iPad will became hard to buy once Feb hits as stocks are reduced and factories are slowed to allow for the new model expected in Early April. I know all this as I have been a specialist Apple reseller for more than 18 years. Apple has a track record of how they update any of their product lines.

I think my iPad 3G at $629 was quite a bargain. I wasn't super stoked and I thought it seemed expensive. It just so happened that the release date was within a day or two of my birthday and I had to pick a new gadget for my present. Every year I treat myself.

When I got it I realized it was so AMAZING. I use it for so much more than games, I carry it everywhere and use it for everything from work to email to online shopping to reading to games and instant messaging, and about a thousand things in between.

It sounds like your issue is iTunes. If you would correct that issue, you could sync quite often and quickly without losing data, therefore manage your apps without losing them and not have to carry around a hard drive full of apps you won't need for 6 months and you won't have to repurchase them.

I also have an iPhone 4. They each have pros and cons but compliment each other beautifully. The cost of ownership is extremely low with app sales and just the generally low cost of even the high quality apps.

I think even though you are planning your purchse based on games, you will surprise yourself and use it for much more.

As for the battery, I'm about 8 months into daily use and my battery life is still perfect. I think if you take care of it properly, you will get years out of a battery. I ordered my iPad from apple, and the process was easy and fast.

The iPad, a way to save money...Hmmm.

a) What was so superior about the print version that compelled you to buy it every day rather than read the online version (cost per year, $0.00)?

b) What makes the iPad subscription version of the Mail superior to the standard online version?

c) Do you regard any of the apps that you've bought since getting the iPad a waste of money? I'm not talking about apps that you used for a while, enjoyed and then tired of. I mean apps that were never any good and that you wished you'd never bought?

Just asking.

I agree. It's the best place to get all of your (OP) questions answered.
