Home button

What causes the Home button (physical button) to be unresponsive sometimes after several pushes on certain programs? Is the iPad Pro 2 (2017) taking its time thinking? Sometimes 10 to 20 seconds. How "normal" is this delay? This is a "new to me" refurb.

You could try a forced re-start of the iPad. Hold down the Home Button plus the On/Off button, ignoring the power off option - until the screen goes black. Release the buttons when you see the apple logo.

You said in the other thread that you just got this iPad (refurbished) from Apple. If, as scifan57 has said, your Home Button may possibly be failing, then you really need to get in touch with Apple, as that shouldn’t happen on a newly refurbished model.

Apple refurbished devices have the same warranty as new devices. Genius Bar appointments at an Apple Store are free and if covered under warranty necessary repairs are free as well.
If your iPad, purchased from Amazon, was refurbished by a third party, warranty coverage is dependent on whatever is offered by the refurbisher.

Hello - agree that your 'home button' is likely not working - you mention above that this is a refurb 'new to me' - was the device purchased recently, any warranty or return policy, and was this a button a problem from the start?

Now you can replace the button yourself (see second pic below from HERE) but is described as 'difficult' and time consuming; plus you would need to buy a kit or two and the part for the replacement. Of course, you could find local technical support but likely costly - you iPad is now classified as at least 'vintage' and likely now or soon 'obsolete' - unless you can obtain another from the refurb vendor, probably best to invest your money in a newer iPad that will take iPadOS 26 which is about to be released. Good luck - Dave
.
ADDENDUM: Several posts appeared as I was typing and I just noticed the other post left by the OP stating that the refurb was purchased from Apple (don't know the date?) but if still w/i warranty then give Apple a call as mentioned above.
