What causes the Home button (physical button) to be unresponsive sometimes after several pushes on certain programs? Is the iPad Pro 2 (2017) taking its time thinking? Sometimes 10 to 20 seconds. How "normal" is this delay? This is a "new to me" refurb.

You could try a forced re-start of the iPad. Hold down the Home Button plus the On/Off button, ignoring the power off option - until the screen goes black. Release the buttons when you see the apple logo.
