I also have the latest update and there has been some crashes. But with every great thing that is designed that is why there are updates. Plus feedback is a very good for correcting possible crashes. Plus the application get better and better.

Excellent thread. After reading I think I will give soundpaper a try. I have penultimate but have been unimpressed so far

I've just watched the videos regarding Note Taker HD and bought the app (cheap).

This is the closest I've seen to writing lecture notes, either with a stylus or with your finger.

Basically you write or draw with your finger on the lower half of the screen and it's
saved, reduced in size on your page in the upper half.

Seriously impressed with this app as I can see making hour long lecture notes perfectly feasible.

The reassuring factor is the dev is famous for creating VisiCalc and is actively seeking suggestions from users as to improvements.

Anyway check out the videos as they will convince you better than I can.

    smartNote in landscape?

I like the sample of smart note free, but can not seem to get it to landscape.

I would have to disagree too. I recently went to a convention and I used Note Taker HD (4.99) and it worked well. I dont like the apps that want me to only type. NoteTaker HD allows you to write with your finger or stylus. I prefer stylus. It works pretty good with the pogo stylus that I have.
