Each time I try to download an app I get asked for my password. Is there no way I can get the pad to remember his?

There's no way to do that, but you can go to Settings>General>Restrictions and change the password requirement from immediately to 15 minutes. By doing this you also remove the password requirement when updating and/or re-downloading previously purchased apps.
