This ship became famous as the first ship in the world to make a commercial passage through a certain shipping route.
Which waterway are we talking about? When did the voyage take place? What kind of ship is it?

Good morning Scifan.

My hunch was that you are talking about the North West Passage. I also managed to approximate the ship's name. So armed with this, Google came to the rescue.

You are talking about the SS Manhatten, an ice-breaking oil tanker which was commissioned by Humble Oil. She transited the passage in 1969.

Correct,Richard.I took this picture on the Willamette River on the way to the Portland Rose Festival in 1985. Here's a photo of the icebreaker bow.
Even though the ship was scrapped in 1987,it remains to this day the largest icebreaker ever built.

South Kensington Tube Station.

Yes, that is close enough I am in the foot tunnel which connects S KenTube with the museums. One of the pics was at the exit for the Natural History Museum. I attach an interior of the Science Museum where there is a nice space exploration hall.

So, it's over to you, Scifan. Perhaps I should say "Over and out." I'm off to explore some brave new worlds. ;)
