I saw this when it hit theaters in 1962. It was even better than I'd remembered. A different sort of sci-fi/disaster flick--not at all lurid, almost no special effects, just good dialog, adequate acting, and a blistering pace.

I suppose I won't get a chance to see the episodes before the 9th doctor - but it's really fascinating to see how it all began.
