On an archeology dig, an ancient Roman privy in the process of being uncovered. Been a bit cold overnight so there's ice formed, interestingly in the shape of the original seat which (being made of ancient Roman wood) has perished.

Sorry, it's not a kiln or archaeological dig.the object is less than 100 years old and was uncovered for repair purposes. Here's another photo.

It's not a factory smoke stack.
This object is normally buried during use,with only the top showing. The top is missing in the photos.

Is it a Cistern? A large buried cylinder for storing water. They were usually built of brick and for residential use. Although in the 19th century some were built at intersections in towns to store water for fighting fires.
