What's new

What is it?

Here's a new challenge.
What is it?When was it introduced?Who built it?What camera was developed from it?

Admiral,do you have a player for these cartridges?

Not anymore. Everything is digital now. I recently looked for a machine in the equipment room but couldn't find one. Definitely a museum piece now.

The manufacturer went on to become the top selling manufacturer of professional 35mm camera systems in the world.
The lens mount in the pictured camera was based on the lens mount used in the Contax rangefinder cameras.

The Nikon F was a development of this camera, and answers one of my questions.Which model is the camera in my photos and who made it and the Nikon F.Before the company chanced it's name to Nikon, after it's top selling camera line,it was known by another name. What is that name?

Nikon rangefinder models were in a series where the first part of the model name was the letter S,followed by a letter or number. This camera would be the Nikon S_?

Ok, I think I've got it. It's the Nikon SP Range Finder introduce in 1957. It was produced by Nippon Kōgaku, a culmination of their work with SLR cameras since 1948, and was considered one of the most advanced cameras of it's time.

Nippon later changed it's name to Nikon, one supposes to more firmly attach themselves to the success of their Nikon line of cameras. That last bit is speculation on my part.

I think that's the last of the remaining questions.
