Actually the only discovery is mine. It's time to hit my rack. 02:45 comes early. Perhaps some night owls or members on the other side of the planet would like to take a shot.

Some excellent challenges today. I had fun.

I'm surprised brick was used but I guess if properly mortared, it would suffice. For that era at least.

Yes, the Victorians used brick in sewers etc. The bricks could be glazed, or of a heavy imperious type, known as engineering brick, used with a dense cement mortar which was designed to be waterproof.

The brick sewers are outlasting the iron ones. In London, there is an ongoing programme of the replacement of worn out service pipes for water, sewage and gas. Pipes are either replaced or lined plastics, such as alkathene, are the favoured material.

So, there you have it. ;)

Looks like Venus as it appeared during its transit between the Sun and Earth, June 5-6. The smaller blemishes below and to the right are sun spots.

Judging by the photo, you used a Mylar or polymer filter on a telescope. However I recall a comment you made about a "Celestron" telescope.
So the filter might be Baader Astro Solar Safety Film.

It is the transit of Venus. The telescope belongs to a friend,I don't know what solar filter he used. I don't know anything about a "coronet",either.LOL Autocorrect strikes again!
