Here's a hint. It's main function becomes apparent when the power supply to the socket it plugs into is interrupted.

It looks like a printer tray (loaded with envelopes?) seen through some kind of lens or glass. Maybe one of those swing arm magnifying glasses used for detail work.

Sorry for the delay. Nope, not a printer tray. I would guess most people use it every day. Here is another view.

Certainly an odd looking contraption.
Looks like a copier but the transparent drum with opening doesn't compute.
And there's a "night light" style bulb on the right with "M2" written in marker on the combing.

It's either a time machine or a kitchen appliance.
