What's new

What is it?

On a loom, they are attached top & bottom, fairly loosely so they can shuffle sideways slightly. Something else goes through the centre eye.

These are sometimes made of thin cord, knotted to form the loops. If needed, weavers add them by knotting them in-situ if there has been a mistake in a preceding process or to change the programming on the go.

Would this item be a wire heddle used to separate the warp threads when weaving?

Yes, spot on. Heddles do separate the warp threads but the main purpose is to control an individual warp thread (called an "end") which can be lifted / lowered as needed depending on the pattern intended.

All the threaded heddles attached to one of several shafts can be controlled together, with either floor pedals or hand levers. Or on a "dobby" loom, shafts can be programmed with punched cards, or now, with an iPad for electronic looms.

No bubbly left, sorry. But now over to you.

Here's my new challenge.
What is this?I want the make and model. What is it normally used for?

I think it's a Nikonos II underwater camera.
Japanese made from 1968-1975. It can be used at depths up to (50m). Weighs 1.6 lbs.
Shutter speed range is 1/30 sec to 1/500.

It's a Nikonos, but not a Nikonos II. If you look at my photo of the top of the camera, you'll notice that the camera has a rewind knob. The Nikonos II has a rewind crank.

Good grief, you two are unbelievable!

Is it the Nikonos Calypso?

Designed by Jacques Cousteau, a commercial production edition was released in 1963. A prototype version appeared in the 1965 James Bond film "Thunderball."

good enough. The only difference between my camera, the Nikonos I,and the Nikonos Calypso(Calypso Nikkor) was the name plate on the camera.

It looks like one of those special lug nuts designed to stop thieves from stealing your wheel. To remove the nut,you need a special lug wrench.

What's this and where would you find it?
the second photo is a little clearer.
