Should I register my MacBook?

I know, wrong section (or is it?). I bought this used (although pristine, black MacBook - fully "loaded" with all the newest software) primarily to sync my iPad. So it's kinda like an accessory How's THAT for priorities?

Any hooo... Should I register it with Apple? I found a screen in there somewhere to do that. Is there any advantage? ie do they send OS update info and stuff like that? Or will they not care 'cause it's used (2008 model I think)

Software update will automatically find any updates for you.

I am not certain there are any plus or minus's to registering your MacBook but it can't hurt.

Thanks, if I put my name on the "User" line, does it affect the "Mac user" file name? Sorry if this is dummy question, this I the first "true computer" that I've actually owned. :/
