Newby here looking for help!

Hi all, newby here in search for advise.

Basically my photos from iPad have disappeared. When my iPad is connected to my Mac, Aperture opens automatically and starts to import my photos so I can see them all, BUT aperture won't allow me to press import.. Once it has loaded the 3594 photos the cursor just stalls and stays there and I cannot do anything. I have to force quit. When I disconnect the iPad no photos are in aperture or on iPad. If I reconnect the same thing happens and photos are there but the cursor is just twirling around. On the iPad itself in general settings it tells me that iPad has 3594 photos but I see nothing.

Can you please advise if I need to re-post this in a different forum.
