So recently My iPad mini has been consistently saying its full on memory, I checked the usage did the maths and it appears its not, there is 5.5 GigaBytes just floating around being "used". I was wondering if there is way (without restoring the iPad) to get my data back...

Thanks in advance!

This might help a bit:

Delete your email accounts and set them up again. This will remove storage used by attachment you opened there.
Clear Safari's history and website data.
Delete old messages in the Messages app.
Remove pictures you don't need any more from Photos.
Take a look at the apps in your usage. Remove apps that need too much of it, and reinstall them.
Reset your iPad: press and hold Home and Power button until the Apple logo appears. Release both as soon as you see it, your device will power up on it's own. This won't remove data or change settings, but it might help also.

Have you connected your iPad to iTunes, on a pc?
When connected thus, iTunes shows quite a bit of usage detail.
