Defects like these are covered by apples 1 year warranty and they will replace the iPad if you ask. If you have AppleCare this would not count toward your AppleCare and you will not have to pay any deductible.

If you are not comfortable or doubtful, exchange while you have the chance. Only you can decide. I myself would not hesitate if I was unhappy.

Not going to know until you try and ask at the store.

If you need to go hunting for it and don't notice it in normal use then I personally would not worry too much as this kind of thing is actually quite common. Only you can decide if it is within thresholds.
I went through three exchanges last year at the apple store until I was happy with my iPad 2 and that was over a three week period. They told me just to bring the last one back for an exchange as well if I was not happy so exchanges for this problem was not an issue so fair play to apple for that.

That's why it is best to see if you can notice an issue in normal use. If you can't, then don't go looking for an issue as it is clearly fit for use. There were loads of people asking last year what to look for as they didn't know what backlight bleeding was. If they hadn't noticed an issue in the first place with the screen then I don't know why they were so keen to find an issue.

Everyone:

With the advent of the new iPad (aka iPad3, iPad 3d Generation, etc.)...

Please, please, please - when you talk about screen bleeding - tell us which iPad version has the bleed. This will prevent confusion.

Thanks.

IPF Staff

P.S. And yes, I know this is in the iPad3 forum. Doesn't mean all visitors read the forum titles... :)
