A new born calf ( male )

The reason I am mentioning his gender is because of an experience I had when I was about 10 yrs old. I don't know the correct spelling of the pertinent word. If I'm wrong please correct me. Thanks. Squib.
"just remembered a tidbit from my childhood. I answered the phone, a man asked to speak to my Dad. I said, " not right now, can I take a message? " I was probably between 8-10 yrs old. The man said, " thank you, could you tell your Dad his bordisos are ready? " . My neverending curiosity had already fully bloomed and I asked, " What are bordisos? " (sp?) There was a long pause and then I could hear humor in his tone as he said, " I think that answer should probably come from your Dad. "
That night at the dinner table, as we were all chowing down I said, " Hey Dad, some man called to say your bordisos are ready to pick up. " My Mom and Dad exchanged glances, my Mom wasn't pleased.

So, of course I piped up with,
" I asked him was a burdisso was but he said I had to ask you!"
My Dad stuck a big forkful of food in his mouth, now I realize he was stalling for time to formulate his answer. My Mom gave him the slightest of frowns. I guessed it wasn't supper conversation etiquette. I kept staring at him intently because now my curiosity was on fire.
Finally he said, " it is a tool that turns bull calves into steers. " I thought about that for a minute and asked, " How does it do that Dad " This time my mind was whirling because my Mom coughed AND frowned out right !
He said, " How about I show you one day when I use it? " I was satisfied with that to the great relief of both Mom and Dad. I think Dad thought I would forget about it. I followed him around like a puppy until he finally had to show me. He knew I wouldn't be very happy because it looked painful to me! "
Peace begins with a smile.
