Does anyone know of possible lens flaws that could likely leave a colored spot on a photo taken with an iPhone 5s ??? I've noticed some interesting things about the photos I took ;-/

Can you provide an example?

Without more of a description I'm inclined to say it's lens flare. It can be purple, pink, or even green. If not extreme it can look like a blotch of color. Use a Google image search to see examples.

Lens flair is caused by shooting towards a relativly intense light source like the sun or a street lamp. The source does not have to be in the picture.

Is the spot the same in every photo? If the defect is the same in every photo, no matter how or where you point the camera, you may have a problem with your camera. As the previous poster asked, please post a screenshot.

I'm having a green spot , different places on the pictures and in different low light conditions :

Magnified a little :















The green spot moves from one place in the frame to another , my lens was clean when I took the shots , but it doesn't appear in other photos taken in the same conditions

Do you use a case on your iPhone? I've heard of cases where the design of the case in the vicinity of the camera and flash can cause some of the light from the flash to be reflected into the camera lens, causing flare similar to what you have.

If you do use a case, try removing the case and take some photos to see if the problem persists.

Yes. That is lens flare. What you are seeing are reflections from the lens. If you pay close attention when you are talking the photo you will see the flare, though the small screen can sometimes make it difficult.

Lens flare is present in all cameras. Some more than others. If you've ever noticed those cones around the lenses on DSLR cameras, this is what they are meant to prevent.

When the iPhone 5S came out there were a few articles noting that the problem was a bit more common than it had been on the earlier phones.

You can reduce it by shielding the lens from the light source with your hand, or in some cases even the little extra shielding a case provides can help. Making sure the camera lens is clean will also help.

On the other hand, you can also have a lot of fun with lens flare, be creative with it. I had fun with it before on my iPhone 5.
