Icons on Lower bar

I used to have my email icon on the lower part of my screen permanently. Now it is shifting out as I open other apps. Is there any way to make it permanent again? I took screenshots.

Is your mail app icon one of the three icons at the right side of the icon row? This is the area that shows the most recently used apps. If so, move it outside that area. It should now stay where you put it.

It used to be and then it wasn’t. I moved it so it’s second from the left, right after Safari. It seems to be staying there. I gave no idea why it decided to float. Thanks for the help. Have a great Sunday.
