Dragonvale Tips & Tricks! (NO Friend Requests!)

Over the years I've obsessed on one or ten computer games that were quite intricate and occasionally after days of trying I'd finally look up a cheat online and it never failed to suck the magic out of the game for me afterward. With the exception of angrybirds. Lol

Very well said Poppy.

My initial response, which I deleted, was to say "Go away." But that's not in the spirit of this fine group. You never know in life when you're presented with an opportunity to do a little good. This doesn't have anything to do with dragons, but let me tell you a little story that just happened to my wife.

She attended a Valentine party the other day and while parking brushed against another car with hers. She didn't want to make a big announcement so she watched out the window until the woman went to her car. When my wife got there the woman was weeping inconsolably and being comforted by a friend. My wife thought she was upset at what my wife thought was very minimal damage. Which was not the case.

She was upset because her husband of over 50 years had recently died and this was her first Valentines Day without him. My wife, an unbelievably empathetic and nurturing woman, helped to console her. That evening she called her and listened to many more tears, then sent her flowers after hanging up.

My wife's reaction?

She viewed it a special opportunity to extend kindness to someone in need.

How did I get so lucky? :)

Can't manage angrybirds. Maybe fingers at fault or just iPhone a bit diddly and small for the game.

Your wife is indeed a very smart person and I am of the opinion one has the luck one deserves, so you are both lucky and very special people.

That's how I got the handle Birdmaestro. The GC randomly assigned it to me in the early days. Since then my Angry Bird games have been somehow lost and, while I've dabbled a little, I just don't have the interest to go back and redo things to the level they were at previously. But I'm still Birdmaestro. :)

Agreed. When the carrot is out of reach this ol' mule has learned to go look for another carrot. :)

I'm hoping that BFS will soften things up a bit with the next update. They've set a precedent for that with the Panlong with its four elements and super production rate when optimized. They can leave things the same on the front end for beginners and less experienced players but add something on the back end that more experienced players can latch on to. Things I can think of include:

  • More habitats

  • Large habitats with more capacity

  • A dragon even more powerful than the Pan

  • Allow more dragons per habitat, especially for the Rares

  • Reduce the 2.7x premium charged for volume treats to something more reasonable

  • And/or create a super volume treat, say $25M or $50M, with no premium

I'm sure there are many other ways to enable hard-core strategically minded players to have a chance to attain some of the lofty goals without breaking the bank or resorting to other measures. I sure would be enthusiastic to see things along those lines. Right now they accommodate beginners and intermediate players, but I think they fall short with more advanced players and there's a tendency for things to turn into a mindless grind. This community is what keeps me going as I'm starting to find the game less interesting.

FWIW,
Poppy

Like you said, they set a precedent with the Panlong. I actually think they set it way before that, with the way plant, earth & fire dragons were set up in the beginning. Everytime I read someone say that they need to increase the Plant habitat I think, "The plant habitat is not designed for that." It's for the first person who's just started the game and needs the quick coin to start buying decorations and his first treat farm.

I remember the first time I got a Dragon to Level 10, my daughter and I marvelling at the insane amount of treats required, over 10 000?! Now in my quest for silver shrines as soon as a dragon is hatched it's fed to level 10 without even thinking about it. The game is designed incredibly well, and I have no doubt that as the next lot of insane/crazy goals gets released, there will be a "panlong" equivalent and an immense treat farm to help you get there.

I might also say, that the reason you might be feeling less interested in the game at the moment, is that you've reached the summit in a very short time after a herculean effort due to your special circumstances. I think the advanced players are still getting something out of the game. It's the expert players with time on their hands that have completed the game (so far) and are waiting for something new. What you need is a new challenge, and one that you have to work at more part time as you get back to your real life.

Personally, I'm looking forward to it. Both to the challenge itself, and hearing about you tackling it.

About 30 tries lol I'm trying same thing for my second panlong or rainbow and no luck for either I think I'm on 15 or 16

I hope it won't take 30 tries but it may. Got you down.

Hi Segbert,

Yep, I hail from sunny Singapore :) Saw in your post that you're thinking of moving here for your retirement and I'll definitely welcome another DV addict here!

Generally, food here is inexpensive. There are countless food courts, hawker centers etc around the island and if you're not picky, can enjoy a meal for less than SGD10. Main killer expenses here is the cost of property and cars. Property in particular, had been on an extreme upward rise. Just to give you am idea - In 2011 May, I bought a condo for investment in the Central Core Region. It's a paltry 40sqm and it costs close to SGD900k!

Public transportation infrastructure is generally good but it's starting to be overcrowded. Cars (say a Toyota 1.6L) will now set you back close to SGD80-100k which again is extreme crazy.

Live in help (generally domestic helpers from Indonesia, Philippines and Myanmar) is around SGD450 per month. Factoring in their expenses, insurance, food etc, it'll cost you roughly SGD600 per month.

If there's anymore you want to find out, let me know ya :)

My sister is living there currently, but I cannot remember the name of the area. She says most of her neighbors are ex-pats. She just completed building her new home a year ago. I have not seen it personally, but the photos are beautiful. I stayed with my sister a few years back and I loved it. She did take me to eat at a hawker and i thought it was great. It much better for you than eating our fast food here. My sister enjoy raising her family there. She actually adopted a Singaporean little baby boy. Dictatorship sounds harsh, but it many ways it works. It amazes me majority Singaporean own their homes, the school my niece and nephew attends is highly rated and in the forefront of education. For such a small country I believe it's the eleventh most richest country in the world. You are very blessed to live in a country that is governed well.

What a super post. You're so right, your wife sounds fantastic and your second response shows that you deserve her (I hope that comes out right:))

Hello DV Friends,

My hubby was nice to collect coins for me when I was away. Unfortunately, he said 3 people sent you gems and did not write them down. If you sent me a gem within the last 4 hours, please PM me as I like to return the favor.

Thank you!

Well, thank you. I was Governor of Stupid Island when we first met. But I did figure if a person like her could be attracted to me, then there must be something OK about me. That was a start.
