Dragonvale Tips & Tricks! (NO Friend Requests!)

And on another note, I got my last two silver shrines today! Yeah me! It's a small step but I feel accomplished and now I will slowly work on the gold shrines after I get my 5th island! Trying to save enough coins to have a little cushion after that 50 million splurge!

Levels matter trust me. Try and use flower and storm both lvl ten I had a flower at lvl 11 and I wasnt getting any thing. I lvled up a baby flower dragon I had laying around and to lvl 10 and got a LYD. You can do it. I lost all faith to but you got to be determined! YOU CAN DO IT!

My son was only just at Level 12, had Flower and Storm both at Level 6 and got a Leap Year Dragon.

I got my Leapyear dragon with flower and storm and it was 15hours so I try again for another with storm and flower, and it's 48hours. What could it be. I already got Rainbow, Sun and Moon

I was going to write in and say that one LYD was going to be enough for me :-) and I vowed, *vowed!!* not to spend any more gems on the silly pursuit of trying to get a second one. Then I read this, and just HAD to try "one more time", haha. Actually, I saw another post that said Fog and Scorch, so I threw those into the EBI, no joy. Then saw this one and said, ok, ONE more try, since the BC was open. Bluefire (11) and Crystal (10) = *success*!!!!

Well, duh. Now what am I going to DO with it?? I'll have to either store it in HC, or sweep away some other habitat to get another rainbow habitat (oh, and? I also already had to store two rainbows!)

What a wild ride THIS one has been, huh forum friends??

edited to add: Oh, and another "and": it only cost about 5 more gems, not too bad...

I hear you! The whole *vowed* thing is getting worrisome here . . . I just thought I was an addict!! LYD absolutely confirmed it for me.

Still, good for you for only spending 5 gems! My first cost me 9. My second cost me 100!! You may color me every shade of the rainbow embarrassed to have chased a second LYD that hard! Because, honestly, why do I need two??

I can relate about the habitats too . . . Interesting that we all have too many rares now for the number of habitats . . . What does BFS have up their sleeve for the next go around?

And now, on a completely different topic: It's been niggling at me ever since I got my first air, then my sandstorms, that they look to me like some kind of familiar insect, in body shape and how they flick their tails up and down, but I couldn't put my finger on it. So I finally looked up flying insects images tonight, and, tada! Mayflies!

Check this out (hope I don't get in trouble posting an off-topic link, but here goes!) http://images.nationalgeographic.co...che/03-flying-insect-mayfly_34248_600x450.jpg.

:)

Nice catch!!

I am SOOOOOOO happy for you Fletch. I seriously did not want you to miss out, but I understand your stand on gems. Very big congratulations :) :)

Not so much a stand, but just common sense. People were spending gems like crazy from minute 1 and going on about BFS conspiracies making them do it. There are 4 LYD between me, my wife and my son and we spent less than 10 gems all up. I've had a great time playing the game the last few days and I have a pretty good sense of accomplishment out of it as well.

And we all know we're going to be whinging tomorrow that we want another update and something new to do with the game. Let's not be in so much of a hurry to get to the finish line. Particular as this game doesn't have one. It's all about journey, imo.

The weirdest thing happened to me just now. Guessing it's a glitch. Anyway, I was in my park and had gems. I sped up a one hour breed and then got a notification about it. Weird bit funny.

Dangit that makes me feel worse. I am level twenty two and can't get one! My dragons just finished breeding though. Going for flower and storm.

Well, I decided to take your advice and try one more time... And got a 48 hour! LOL!!! I never thought I would see the day when I would be disappointed to see one of those! LOL! Oh well, I'm not wasting any more gems! Congrats to all who got one and double congrats if you got two! I'm just going to be happy with my one!

Your still not alone either. :( I tried several more times, and yes, I ended up yet with another 48 hrs. Somewhere in there I got the dreaded 24 hrs *shudders* too. If I get one more try I'll be lucky. I went through I think close to 500 gems on this little escapade. I guess that's what I have been saving them for but I'm done I think...that is just too many for one dragon.

The interesting side of this whole thing is my husband actually told me "I'll buy you this dragon, how much will it be?" I went and looked and thought 99.99 is the only pack that will cover it so thank you so much but no. I refuse to spend that much for something that is so short lived....for a 2 day window...nah. Now if I had been trying for months I probably would of done it! Lol

It wasn't a flippin' conspiracy - it was an extremely well conceived plan to motivate people to buy gems.

(1) Use social media to provide a leak to get things stirred up. Leap Year Dragon, 29 minutes, sell for $3.5M, game-changer, etc. (Anticipation, Buzz, Excitement)

(2) Make sure everyone is aware that this very special dragon will only be available for a very short time. (Scarcity, Anxiety)

(3) Introduce the dragon and make it very easy to get the first one. (Satisfaction, Craving).

(4) Lock the gates and make the new dragon very hard or perhaps impossible to get for a period of time. (Desperation, Panic)

(5) Open the gates in the 12th hour and make the dragon easy to get again. (Relief, Gratitude, Satisfaction - the loop is complete).

It's called marketing. I've been in it most of my life. Which is why I tried so hard to warn people not to buy a second one during step #4. The process is a good thing to aware of, especially here in the U.S. as we're in a presidential election year.

Poppy

P.S. Fortunately there are other ways to market that I find more palatable.
