No, for me it takes away the novelty of the touch keypad. If I need keys, I will go to,my computer.

Yes I have a protective case from Newtrent. You can use the blue tooth keyboard or unsnap it and use the Ipad. Then put it back together and close it to protect it. The case is like an otterbox. Very well made.
