Thanks for all your help, but unfortunately I still cannot update to IOS 6. I now have a £400 brick that I can do nothing with. I can't update and I can't restore. There are still two options left. I can take my brick to the Apple store or option two (my favourite). Our apartment is on the ninth floor and from our lounge window we can see the Avon Gorge and the Clifton Suspension Bridge which crosses it. I don't think I could throw my brick as far as the gorge but I could give it a ninety foot drop test.

Anybody noticed that you have to download the dictionary if you want the definition of a word in the mail, notes or other apps? Well that for me is not so much of a complaint but I didn't have to do that In iOS 5 . However after downloading the dictionary it's working fine

I haven't had a problem with the dictionary at all. It works fine in all the iOS apps and others and never needed to be downloaded.
As I noted in the iOS forum, though, I'm having issues getting the full options menu when selecting text in iBooks for copying. I don't know if It is an iOS glitch or something weird going on on my iPad due to another installed app causin ginterference. Hopefully, it will either clear up on its own or someone will come up with a solution for me.
I have seen a lot of complaints about the new AppStore, but I for one love it. I always found all those tiny icons overwhelming and being an older person I really appreciate the now very easy to see results.
I didn't use Maps or YouTube very much so no problem there at all. My wifi is pretty stable, web pages load pretty quickly, maybe even a little faster than before. Some of my iOS5 apps are glitchy. So while I don't love iOS6 and am not super enthusiastic about it, I think it will be fine in the long run, after we get used to it and Aople makes some tweaks.
I have used Android phones and tablets for the most part and am new to the iPad as of four months ago. For all those who think that life will be better if you run on over to Android, here's a heads up: things are just as difficult and glitchy over there. The forums are full of people threatening to go over to Apple, because the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. But, as my son says, its astroturf.

My biggest complaint with iOS6 (iPhone 5 really) is the battery life. Has anyone noticed an issue with battery life for iOS 6 with iPad? Curious if this is an iOS or hardware issue.

I never used to use my iPad on auto brightness, I usually would dim the screen unless I have to (just to save some power )but now I do and for the most part have no complaints. I think Apple did this on purpose;at least as far as YouTube is concerned. Not content on being the #1company in the world, it is now setting out to destroy other very successful companies like YouTube, so that it can be " I'm monarch of all I survey, my right there's none to dispute." It is utter greed that made it do this. Beware Apple, those who want to grab everything will finally have nothing. Don't take us users as fools. If YouTube does not come back as it was in iOS5, I'm moving over to Android.

YouTube is owned by Google.
The contract between Apple and Google for Apple to continue to supply a YouTube app expired. Google did not release their iPad app in time for iOS 6. There are alternatives in the App Store you can download already.
Nothing nefarious going on.
Move to Android if you wish. No one will try to stop you.

ios6 is giving me connectivity problems. it connects to the wifi device, but does not connect to the net. have tried many things, resetting, reinstalling, nothing seems to work. dont know what to do.

All systems have their problems. Android constantly locks up and you have to do battery pulls in order to get it to reboot. You just have to decide which system works best for you and your needs and go with it.

I am new to the forum so hope I am in the right place.
Since updating to os6, when I try to type on email the keyboard is in the middle of the screen and I can't see what I am typing. It is probably just a little glitch but frustrating. I love the ipad and have talked several friends into buying them. Would appreciate help fixing this.
