I have heard from a friend who used iPhone 4 that its battery backup does not last for more than 4 hours if you play games on it. Is this also a case with iPad?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'battery backup', but the iPad normally lasts for 10 hours on its battery and I've not seen any reports that suggest that this time is lower if you play games.
