A non-wifi way to use iPad as an extra monitor for laptop and as webcam?

Hi there.

Just wondering is it possible to connect the iPad to a laptop to display what's on the laptop and use the iPad as a webcam for the laptop? I know there are separate apps for these but is it possible to do it in a non-wifi way, using a hdmi/USB connector or something similar?
