WI-Fi 4g Internet Connection issue

I have a "New IPad" 4g (Verizon). I have noticed when I move from wi-Fi to 4g or vice versus and regain a connection, the iPad doesn't see the connection. Once I shut the IPad down and bring it back up, it's fine. When you launch an app, or try to browse it tells me I don't have an Internet connection. But, according to the status at the top, I am in service. Doesn't seem to do it all the time. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this? The Verizon LTE has been great so far, i ran a Speedtest the other day, and got 14mb downstream and 6 mb up.
