Well, my son played too hard and broke the glass of my 3rd gen ipad. Id rather not give apple the $150+ to repair the unit and believe I can repair it myself. I've seen a variety of sources - mostly on ebay- which provide replacement glass for around $40 more or less but I'm wondering about the quality of the part. Can someone out there please refer me to a reliable source for quality replacement glass for my white ipad 3? Thanks

Try going to iFixit. They have parts and video tutorials on how to repair your iPad. They also sell the special tools necessary. http://www.ifixit.com/

iFixit has generally good reviews, but may still be a little pricey. You could also try local iPad repair shops, not sure where you are but every city has one (e.g. Philadelphia has several screen repair shops in South Philly).

They may be more expensive than other suppliers, but you'll get genuine Apple replacement parts.

Ifixit has the part for $100 which is substantially higher than the $45 part on eBay. Further, it's not clear whether the part is an OEM part or a reproduction/copy. At $100 (plus additional outlay for tools and adhesive) it doesn't make sense to self repair- apple will fix it for $150. An other suggestions?
