After you posted your lockscreen photo I was going to ask about downed power lines. This post answered that. Were any tree branches broken due to the heavy load of ice?

It did load the power lines up pretty bad! Fortunately our sub wasn't effected. My parents/brother and sister had it worse...no power and about 1/2 inch of ice on the the streets. It was just a mess!

Thanks, Leelai! It cleared up midday with the help of the salt trucks moving through, but what awful timing for all of us trying to do last minute shopping before Christmas Eve and Day!

I'll say....you just don't need this right now when there's just so much to do in preparation for Christmas.

Good luck with all of that!

swarms of hungry robins have zeroed in on our holy berry trees and are stripping them of the ripe red berries.

Just incredible Ski how the weather changes so quickly. Seems only yesterday we were admiring those nice sunny-day photos of your walks through your uni campus. Love those ice covered branches. I'll have another look at those when we get the next heat wave, no doubt soon:)

While it created a bit of a headache for all of us Michiganders-we all admit that it was a pretty site to see. Fortunately the temps climbed up and the ice melted allowing power crews to fix fallen lines! :)

My backyard Christmas story. The woodpecker finished enough of the Hootie Owl to give a gift to the squirrel.

It's one month into our summer now and "Alby" our young birch tree is getting big, well potentially obese actually;)

Spring is well gone but it hasn't registered for him up top yet. Still extending his branches to try and push out more buds for more leaves. Talk about slow on the uptake!:)

You'd think he'd get the idea being behind the Kangaroo Paw bush which flowers here in South Australia in summer:

Here's a close up of the Kangaroo Paw flower.

I know and have been sorry to read that a lot of members here are now experiencing icy roads, some storms and floods and just plain garden variety seasonal cold. So I thought I would show you some summer colour here to cheer you up and to remind you that it won't be long before our roles are reversed.:) Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
Andrew
