There just was an update of several magazine apps. Problem solved. I just could download the magazine I bought on the iPhone to the iPad. Via the 'restore purchases' button, btw.

Same here...restore working now but only for one off purchases and not my subscription. Future Publishing eventually got back to me with the singularly unhelpful suggestion that I check the FAQ on their website before I contact them with a technical issue.
