I synced some magazine (pdf) to my Ipad 3 (IOS 7.04), but although I can see them in Ibooks, I can't open them up. In the right margin is the 'download' symbol (blue square inside a blue circle). What's going on??

Not knowing for sure what you are looking at or what method you are using to sync PDF's to iBooks, I'd guess that the magazine is probably still in the process of downloading, possibly stuck. The blue circle with the square is a progress indicator. It starts with a thin line around the square that becomes thicker clockwise as the download continues. When the entire circle is thick, it is installing. The icon should disappear when the download is finished.

I suggest the usual fixes, below, if you have not already tried them. If they don't work, please describe what you are doing in more detail and we can make another, hopefully better, guess.

Good luck.

The Usual Fixes
------------------------------

When you have problems with an app it's a good idea to clear it from RAM.

Close/Clear the app:

iOS 6: With the problem app closed, double tap on the Home button to get the multitask bar. Tap and hold on any icon in the bar until they jiggle, then tap the minus sign on the problem app.

iOS 7: Double tap the Home button to get the multitasking display. Swipe up on the problem app's thumbnail image (not the icon).

If that does not work try a restart,

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends you restart the iPad at least once a month.

and then a reset if that does not work.

Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.

Appreciate the help. Just noticed that the copies of the mags that have this issue are duplicates but I can't delete them when I try to edit them?? Nothing happens!????
