AppleInsider reports today that a video has just been uploaded to YouTube that purports to show a front digitizer and rear casing from the fifth-gen iPad. And seeing as Apple insider Sonny Dickson is credited at the end of the video, I think we can assume that the video is genuine.
In the video, which was posted by “unboxtherapy”, you can see how the new iPad’s front panel looks when laid on top of the iPad 4. You can definitely see that it’s narrower, and starting to look much more like the iPad mini, as has been widely reported. As the presenter says in the video, the bezel is thinner, but the screen size remains the same.
The video also compares the back casing of the iPad 4 and the iPad 5, and here, again, you can see how the newer iPad is indeed looking much more like a larger version of the iPad mini. When the two iPads are compared from a side view, one on top of the other, it’s obvious that the newer iPad is trimmer and neater than the current iPad, and easier to hold in one hand, as the presenter shows.
Looking good, Apple! Now we just want to know when we can get our hands (or should that be hand!) on one!
