Has anyone found an app similar to MyMobiler (for windows phones), that would allow me to remote control or just even view my ipad screen from my windows or Mac Desktop?

I did do a search and could not find such an app.

You can use a vnc viewer on a jailbroken device. No way that I know of on a stock one.

    LogMeIn Ignition

You might want to take a good look at Logmein Ignition app. It is expensive for an app, but LogMein has a good history, it is simple to use and all the reviews are good.

Does anyone know of an app that doesn't require your desktop/laptop to be turned on to gain remote access?

You are correct, LogMeIn allows the iPad to control the Computer. Personally, Splashtop is a better solution and much cheaper.

To the OP, without JB and VNC, you are pretty much out of luck.

BTW, why would you want/need to control an iPad from a PC?

I don't believe this exists in the App store. There are options on JB devices though.

Joking right? Does anyone know a computer that can be used when it's off?

As for the op, jailbreak, install veency log in thru any vnc viewer.

Not USE, just Gain Access. And yes, this is possible, however not usually done. Some motherboards and some laptops allow for a signal to be sent through the ethernet cable to Wake On Lan. We have some lap PCs set up like this however we rarely need to utilize it.

As far as Apps go, I dont know if any would be able to kick off a Wake On Lan signal on a computer.

Splashtop Remote supports Wake on Lan since their last update.

I can't help on the OP's question - I've never heard of anything to let you control the iPad remotely.

    Why

My goal of displaying IPAD on a desktop is related to performing mobility application demonstrations online.

I can run Veency on my iPhone just "fine" but it won't work right on my iPad 4.2.1. The mouse pointer does not function on the iPad, but does on iPhone. Right click is home button, etc.

But I would not call the performance very acceptable. Screen draw time is painful. I mainly use it with my iPhone 4 so I can text without having to pickup my phone, and to use my PC's kayboard.

That's what "wake on lan" means; I've never heard of anything letting you boot the PC remotely, only via a direct ethernet connection.

I don't know if SplashTop only wakes from "suspended" or not but true wake on lan does not mean that at all. The PC is off as far as any OS is concerned. The support is usually on the motherboard and once that "magic packet" is sent via ethernet--or WiFi if it supports wake on wireless--then that PC computer comes to life. Does not have to be in suspend or hibernate. Aside from listening on ethernet or wifi is is off.

But again, I am not sure what the SplashTop support for this is. But if they say wake on lan I would assume it doesn't just mean wake from standbye.

I'm not an expert on this but doesn't your PC have too support a true wake on LAN? I haven't seen any iPad/iPhone app including splashtop that supports a true wake from completely off.... It just works to wake it from sleep.

It has to be supported in the computer's BIOS firmware, but it's been years since I've seen a computer that didn't have the option. According to Splashtop's web site, it fully supports WoL by sending a packet to computer that's off, suspended, or in hibernation, which I didn't know (and will never use).

OK I checked into SplashTop's implementation of wake on LAN. It is pretty much a separate function... similar to other iOS out there dedicated to wake on LAN.

As I suspected it only works when on the local network. You have to have already connected to the PC--it must save the MAC address transparently after you have connected once.

It won't work over the Internet though most dedicated apps won't either.

But in other news the Splashtop server and app were just updated. Now supports native PC resolutions and not just 1024*768 and 800*600. And finally pinch and zoom! Yay!

I can vouch for LogMeIn's Wake-on-lan working perfectly happily over the internet.

But I am only here hoping to find a way of controlling an iPad from my PC (or a Mac) - so as to help an elderly relative from afar.
