Just outside the convention centre is this statue of Michael Anderson, who lost his life when the Columbia broke up on re-entry in 2003.

Is there a certain reason why flags from Canada and the USA are there on the walls?

Will there be any celebrities from the SciFi world in attendance? Years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Brent Spiner and Marina Sirtis (both of Star Trek: TNG fame) at a SciFi convention.

David Gerrold, who wrote the Star Trek episode "The Trouble With Tribbles" is the guest of honour. George R. R. Martin, author of the Game of Thrones, is in attendance, along with many other authors.
