I've read some articles that say there was a rumor leaked saying that the ipad 2 is an interim product and that the ipad 3 could debut as early as Fall 2011. What are the chances that this is true?

It really comes down to the source of the rumours, whether it's merely wishful thinking or something planted by Apple marketing to "prep the market" (it has to start somewhere.)

As to the iPad 3 coming out this year... firmly in the first category.
