I think so... Read the top paragraph, Apple - iPad - Stay connected everywhere you go.
Don't know if wifi will work at SBux without a 3G plan.

I just spoke to AT&T via phone. here is what I was told:

    1. Starbucks FREE unlimited wifi is for the iPhone only.
    2. AT&T advised I purchase & register a $5.00 Starbucks card.
    3. This will allow me 2 free hours per day.
    4. Additional hours must be purchased.
    5. McDonalds/Barnes & Noble have no restrictions, unlimited for all AT&T devices.
    6. Starbucks wifi is NOT free on the 3G iPad unless you purchase ANY 3G plan.

So, KronicKaos, how are you using your iPad at Starbucks with no issues? Are you in fact logging in with a registered Starbucks card?

    thanks,

    Win

So, bottom line, if you subscribe to a data plan with the 3G you get free AT&T hotspot usage.

First I registered a starbucks gift card that I got for xmas. Then I signed up for a free AT&T wifi account. After that all you have to do is open safari and sign on using the free AT&T login info ghat you created. Don't forget to go into settings and tell your iPad to remember the connection though.

KronicKaos, thanks for the reply. I was trying to see if free wifi access was available from Starbucks, WITHOUT having to pay them money. I now see its free for iPhone, and not free for wifi iPad. Thanks. I've gotten a $5.00 Starbucks gift card, and will try it the next time the METS are playing a day game. ;-)

    thanks again everyone.

All AT&T telephone and UVERSE customer also get access to all AT&T hotspots. I sign in using my AT&T account and that will give me access to all of the hotspots regardless of where they are and no time limits. Here is the link to the Starbucks web site:

I haven't checked on it for a long time, but at one time, AT&T allowed me free wifi for being a DSL customer. There are ways to get free wifi, you just have to find the opening.
