So, the mini has a FaceTime HD camera and a 5mp rear camera. Then both 2.4 and 5GB wifi. With the lightning connector, it has better specs than the iPad 2, but the 4th gen has the better screen, new chips that are 2x faster.

Going to the 6 month update cycle is a response to all the android competition.
