Never had a Ford Anglia, but my parents' first car was a Ford Prefect with the 105E engine. A heater was an optional extra and myDad 'splashed out' on that.

What I really remember - from those days - is how unreliable and poorly made most mass-production cars were in those days - I recall that the average new car in the UK had 12 faults that needed rectifying.

How things have improved - they say that - in the 'old' days, it was a triumph of workmanship over design and now it's a triumph of design over workmanship..

My last couple of cars have had no faults whatsoever....

Tim

I have had many used cars and only one new one. (Over 35yrs ago) It had more faults than any used car I've owned.

:D My first car was a white station wagon with the wooden paneling...it was my mom's!! Everybody razzed me in school, but when it came time for rides...everybody was my best friend.

My favorite car was my convertible...my first and last impulse buy!! It was a Jag xjs--12 cylinder and boy it drove silky smooth!! Great for warm weather driving, but in Michigan--that only lasts ~3 months!

Nice motor Skimonkey. Drool!
I love cars! My dad was a mechanic so I inherited the love, I suppose. Hubby isn't as interested though. As long as it gets him where he wants to go. Although he wasn't keen on swapping the Isuzi Trooper for daughters Ford Escort. Is it a size thing, do you think?

Thank you, Hayles66-It was really a dream car!! I definitely think that it was a size issue trading the Isuzi for the Ford Escort, that is for sure!! Here in the U.S.-sports utility cars are (were) very popular with many for added protection and better driving view, but our gas prices killed us!! I know drive a PT cruiser for the winter, LOL!

By the way, Love-Love your new Avator Picture!!

Yay! A fan! He is gorgeous, isn't he? He's a bit young for me but I love Twilight and I'm looking forward to Breaking Dawn at the end of the month.

He's just a baby. Don't see the appeal. I guess you have to be younger than him to see it.

If you have to be younger than him, that would mean you would need to be within the womb! He is crap, and the reason he is popular is that children of the same age have no common sense to see that he has as much talent as a talentless thing that has just had an operation to remove the empty vessel that should contain the tiniest dregs of Ability

Very flash indeed

I have very fond memories of Volkswagen beetles. A lot of people call them punch buggies here. Don't know why

Hope this helps your question leelai

Punch buggy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The beetle was partly Adolf Hitlers idea, he wanted a vehicle that could be made more affordable for the people of modern Germany.

My first vehicle was a Volkswagen Golf, it had an awful electrics problem where, for no apparent reason all the dashboard lights would come on and the engine would just die........usually when in the third lane on the motorway!
And my favourite vehicle has to be the Ford Capri mkIII in 3 litre.........true design genius........but didn't go round roundabouts well!!

I maybe should have mentioned, just to clear up any misunderstanding.......I'm not a Bieber fan,

So I guess that means you are not coming to Bieberpalooza 2011?

Too bad, we open for him. The promoters and Bieber's mother and Bieber's agent thought that Bieber's fans would like to know what actual musical notes sound like without auto-tune. It should be a pleasant change from most Pop music? I am also selling Bieberpalooza 2011 T-Shirts from my trunk until security chases me away.
