I have been slowly being pulled into the Apple Black Hole for the past 2 years.

My first apple product: iTouch (Gen1)

My second: iPad

Won't be long before I delve into the desktop thing...

Well I have a 2 year old Macbook which is the main computer in house for 5 adults and in addition we have 2 iphone 3gs 2 ipod touch and 2 ipod nano's ( 1 spare) :)and a Apple TV which sync's movies picts and all the music from the mac book This provides 5.1 sound for movies and music . All this is connected to the wifi n network. I am adding 2 wifi ipads, one for my partner as she loves reading and another for me as I can never get time on the macbook as adult kids use it. ha ha

cool I guess my first computer was an apple IIe then a II plus. Since 76 I have had the pleasure of owning most models Apple has made available but then I have been a reseller since 1993 in Australia Prior to 1988 lived in USA for 12 years. I lived in Monterey where many Apple developers began .... they were heady years with Apple to say the least My first reseller position as sales manager was in Salinas california That was in 1994.........

On a separate issue
So many people run down Apple tv I personally think it is great does what it is meant to do ..

Great you own the Power macs Solid computers I guess you are a designer or publisher is that right ?

New to the forum. I use old equipment: a blue and white G3 desktop w/a G4 accelerator, and I'm sending this on a slate grey G3 laptop. The questions I have revolve around getting files from the desktop onto the iPad. I realize I don't have new enough iTunes to synch, but, if the pad is on the Wifi network, will I be able to grab a file from the desktop, ie, jpeg's, mp3's, pdf's, etc. They couldn't tell me at the Apple Store. This old hardware is sufficient for what I normally do. If I don't have to buy new hardware all the time, I don't want to. I know all it would take is a Mini to do it, but if I don't need to spend $600 or $700, why should I? Anyone know? Thanks.

The old saying is if the shoe fits wear it.. Yes the stuff u own is old but in your case it is sufficient for you and that is what matters at some time your Blue and white was the fastest computer Apple released. my personal advice is buy a Mac mini and Ipad as at the end of the day you get the best of both worlds at a small cost. Using the ipad is easy including transferring files and syncing itunes
The issue is Applications at this time unfortunately the hard ware you have cannot run them. Where as a Mac mini would, An alternative is a second hand g5 or a Mac pro as this would would be an alternative Hope it helps Col Down under Australia:)

Wow, congrats. A buddy of mine just bought a 27" iMac for his family. He said the screen is almost too big. Enjoy your new toy ;).

Never owned more than an iPod until about a year ago. Now Apple has got me hooked! Still have 2 PC's (work and home) but use MacBook 95% of the time when I am at home. Hmm...what's next after the iPad?!?!? Any Suggestions?

Congratulations You are right easy to use no virus attacks and all works without hassle even works better with Iphone ipad and also Apple TV which I also own. Guess I am biased Have been with Apple since 1978 and a specialist reseller since 1993 But you are so right enjoy the technology and Apple imac its the right choice..... col down under

Yeah it's huge, but I don't watch tv or even have a tv in my house so I pretty much do everything on my computer - the extra screen real estate is so nice for multitasking! So far it's even better than I was hoping it would be :D

I'm VERY new to apple stuff beside my 5th gen nano. I just brought a 13" Macbook Pro for my Son last week. Since I've been a Blackberry/PC guy forever, my Son says he's gonna convert me. :D And you know what, the more he shows me, the more I like it. :p

And since I'm a long time Verizon customer, I can't wait to get the 4G Verizon iPhone, if I don't like it I can always go crackberry again. ;)
