What's new

What music are you listening to right now!?!?

As for what I'm listening to now? Mostly a lot of the newer stuff actually. Adele, Maroon 5, P!nk, Katy Perry, The Fray, Neon Trees etc. Used to be pretty much exclusively a hard core oldies guy, The Who, U2, Stones, The Boss, Fleetwood Mac, Seger etal. Hated most anything after about 1995. :D But after I got an iPad and Iphone, access to iTunes kinda opened up new avenues and I starting finding a lot of new stuff I like. One of my current favorites is "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye. And it's not a good day at the gym if I haven't heard "Payphone" by Maroon 5, "Everybody Talks" by Neon Trees and "Good Feeling" by Flo Rida. I guess it's never too late to find new music you like, even for an old phart like me.:p

I like people who put morals over money. Gotta hand it to Angus.
Yeah, as much as I'd like to be able to grab "Highway to Hell", "Back In Black" and "..Shook Me" for my idevices, there is something to be said for sticking to your principles.

I'm stuck in the past, but "Someone that I used to know" is good, potentially great. Hayles first brought it to my attention on the "Post your favorite YouTube videos" thread. It's worth a look. Very similar in feeling to Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer, as Hayles pointed out.

YouTube has opened my eyes to music I would never have considered.

Mary Jane's Last Dance (Live Version) - Tom Petty
whoops, just changed to Comfortably Numb - Roger Waters version from The Wall: Live in Berlin

Yeah it's got a certain retro feel for sure. The instrumentals remind me of some old cold war spy movie from the '70s. For some reason I keep picturing guys in trench coats lurking under street lights near the Berlin Wall.:p

Just fired up Boston - Third Stage.

Followed by Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler - Neck and Neck.

Just found a great band on you tube, no longer together, but certainly ticked all my boxes, they are called Sublime and after a bit of searching I found this description

Genres Reggae, punk rock, reggae fusion, ska punk, alternative hip hop, Dub

Certainly cover a wide variation of tastes!!

Clever marketing that is. The cross referencing when searching by genre will drive more traffic to their music. Just scoped them on iTunes. Nice keyboards.

Noticed today that my copy of Rush's new album "Clockwork Angels" appears to have a misprint on the reverse. All of the song lengths show as 0:00.

According to a post at www.rushisaband.com
the track timing error is exclusive to the Canadian
issue. But I'm wondering if it's deliberate. It's something the mind of Geddy Lee would come up with and could have some deep meaning. Or,
he's just messing with us.
