What's new

What is it?

This is a replica of the original.
What is it? Who made it? When were both the original and this replica made? I want both dates.

The viewfinder is a folding design.

The originals that this replica was based on were the prototype of a camera that went into series production in 1925.

Here are two more photos.
A original was sold at auction last month and the price realized was the highest price ever paid for a camera sold at auction.

The shutter on the original and this replica is not self-capping.if the lens is not capped while winding the camera, the frame that was just exposed will be fogged.

The camera has a removable baseplate and loads through the bottom. This feature was carried forward into the production cameras and was a feature of the company's camera line into the 21st century.

The name of the company which built the original and replica cameras in this challenge is — — — — Z.

The best I can find is a Leica o-series camera. Leitz manufactured a replica. An example of the Leica model fetched over 2.1 million euros at auction.

This thread is very quiet. Nothing has happened for over 2 hours.
So, do I post challenge? It appears that I can, under rule 10.
I will post in 10 minutes' time, if no one objects....

Richard,

I've done a peer review of your answer. Based on an internet image of an "O" series camera, furnished by leitzmuseum.org, your answer appears to be correct.

On that basis Richard, you can proceed with the next challenge.

Scifan, if my review is in error, you should re-post your challenge and we'll go at it again.
